11th April 2026 - Protecting the Integrity of the Consultation: A Community Audit

It has come to our attention that a door-to-door signature drive is being conducted across Blackheath to gather support for the Station Car Park development. However, many residents have reached out to us with reports of:

  • Misleading Claims: False statements regarding the development meeting social housing targets or its impact on the Farmers’ Market
  • Pressure Tactics: Emotional pleas and other methods being used to secure signatures
  • Transparency Issues: Canvassers failing to identify themselves as working for the developer or failing to explain how personal data will be used

We are taking action. To ensure the Council is not misled by skewed or unfairly obtained data, we are launching a formal community audit.

There is a vital distinction between a community campaign openly sharing information and an applicant privately soliciting signatures. One is an exercise in democratic expression; the other, if conducted via leading questions or misrepresentation, is an attempt to manufacture consent. Our audit is about ensuring the Council's data is untainted by unethical tactics.

If you were contacted by these canvassers - whether you signed their form or not - please log the details of the interaction here: https://forms.gle/6vjsGTqfoxT4cv4X7.

All data provided will be held securely by our committee and used to compile a formal evidence report for the Planning Department and the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Your voice is the only way to ensure the developer is held to the 'Good Developer' standards required by Lewisham Council.

if you were contacted please submit your response by Sunday 26 April.

Thank you for helping ensure a fair and transparent process for everyone.

Please share this link with local WhatsApp and Facebook groups, particularly if you were contacted as that most likely means that others on your street or neighbourhood will have been too. If you want a ready-made message to post, use this:

If you have been visited at home, we need you to record your experience via our Resident Evidence Form https://forms.gle/6vjsGTqfoxT4cv4X7 .Your input is critical to ensure that 'manufactured support' is challenged and that Lewisham Council receives an fair and accurate account of community feeling.
