It is critical that enough objections are entered into the planning portal to trigger a public forum where the residents will be able to have our say.  In excess of 100 objections are required to trigger the public forum.

How to object to the planning application

Go to the Lewisham planning portal

  1. You can access the planning proposal on the Lewisham planning portal by clicking here
  2. At the top of the page you will see a link to either Login or Register  (note that the planning portal login is not your normal Lewisham council login so if you have not been to planning before, you will need to register)
  3. If you need to register for the Lewisham Planning Portal this is quick and easy. You need to provide your name, an email address and a password. You will then be asked for your address.
  4. A confirmation email will be sent to the email you specified and you will need to click on the link in that email and then enter your email and password to log in
  5. You should now be logged in

Make a comment on the application

It is best to write the objection using your own ideas and language but there are a lot of ideas on the "Why object" page. There are also ideas lower down on this page. You might also want to look at what local residents have said.

  1. If you have lost the page for the current application, you can return to the planning application by clicking here.
  2. If you followed the above you should now be logged in
  3. Once on the page, you need to click on 'Comment' then 'Make a Comment'. Your details should already be filled in (name, email, address, telephone etc). Do not worry as this information will not be made public.
  4. Make sure to select whether your stance is "Object", "Support" or "Neutral".
  5. You then have 1,000 characters to make your comment. When you have done that press 'submit'.

Optional but important step

Email your local councillors

Your Lewisham Councillors are:

Pauline Dall - pauline.dall@lewisham.gov.uk

Amanda De Ryk - amanda.deryk@lewisham.gov.uk

Luke Warner - luke.warner@lewisham.gov.uk

You may wish to email them to register your thoughts on the application. If you use any of the templates below, please reword them as much as you can. Use your own language and thoughts - this will work better. The below might help to get you started. You must include your address.

Subject: Objection to Blackheath Station Car Park Development – Local Resident

Dear Councillors,

I’m writing to express my strong objection to the proposed development at Blackheath Station Car Park.

As a nearby resident ([insert your street]), I am deeply concerned about the scale of the buildings, the loss of light and privacy, and the impact this will have on traffic and parking on our already congested streets. This proposal is completely out of keeping with the character of our conservation village.

I hope you will support the local community and oppose this application.

Kind regards,

Subject: Objection to Car Park Development – Impact on John Ball School

Dear Councillors,

I am the parent of a child at John Ball Primary School and would like to object to the proposed development at the station car park site.

The plans show new buildings directly overlooking the playgrounds and classrooms. There is also no provision for fire assembly, and school drop-offs will be affected by the loss of parking and increased construction traffic. These are serious safeguarding issues.

Please ensure these concerns are properly addressed and help protect our school community.

Best regards,

Subject: Objection to Development – Harm to Local Trade & Market Access

Dear Councillors,

As a business owner / market trader in Blackheath, I am writing to object to the proposed development at the station car park.

The loss of parking and poor access for market traders and deliveries would make it extremely difficult to continue operating effectively. Blackheath’s economy depends on footfall and ease of access – this scheme threatens both.

Please support a version of development that protects local businesses and the character of our village.

Sincerely,

Subject: Objection – Risk to Blackheath Farmers’ Market

Dear Councillors,

I am a regular visitor to the Blackheath Farmers’ Market and would like to raise my concerns about the development plans for the car park.

[Add a sentence about why you love the market]

The proposed market space is much smaller and doesn’t appear to provide adequate access for traders. Without careful planning, the market could be lost – and with it, a vital part of village life.

I hope you will support a version of the scheme that protects this valuable community space.

Yours faithfully,

Subject: Objection to Car Park Development – Conservation Concerns

Dear Councillors,

I am writing as someone who values and supports Blackheath’s heritage and conservation status.

[Optional: any relevant experience or connection to conservation]

The scale and design of the proposed development is entirely out of character with the surrounding area. It would harm the historic setting and set a worrying precedent for future planning decisions.

Please help preserve Blackheath’s unique identity and reject this application in its current form.

Kind regards,

Subject: Objection to Development – Visitor

Dear Councillors,

I am writing to formally object to the proposed development on the grounds that it will significantly increase the demand for parking in Blackheath Village, particularly as it involves the loss of the Station Car Park.

As a regular visitor to the village, I often meet friends in Blackheath for coffee and take the opportunity to support local shops during my visits. I am concerned that the removal of the Station Car Park will make parking increasingly difficult, requiring additional time spent searching for a space. This inconvenience may ultimately discourage me from continuing my visits to the area.

Unfortunately, public transport is not a viable option for me, which makes access to adequate parking essential.

I urge the Council to require the developer to include additional parking spaces in the proposal to help mitigate the impact on residents, visitors, and local businesses.

Yours faithfully,

Subject: Objection to Development – Environmental Advocate

Dear Councillors,

I am objecting to the proposed development on environmental grounds.

While the visuals show greenery and rain gardens, the plans include no clear maintenance strategy or long-term sustainability commitment. Without guarantees, this could become another case of “greenwashing.”

Any new development in a conservation village must take climate and biodiversity seriously — not just in appearance but in practice.

Thank you,

Subject: Objection – Access and Parking Concerns for Mobility Users

Dear Councillors,

I object to the proposed development at Blackheath Station Car Park due to the serious lack of parking and drop-off space for residents with mobility needs.

The plans remove most parking and provide no guarantee of accessible alternatives. This makes the station, school and market far less usable for those of us who rely on car access.

[Optional: share your personal experience]

Please ensure any development is inclusive and meets accessibility standards.

Sincerely,
